Our History

Prosperity Connection (formerly known as the St. Louis Community CU Foundation) was established in 2010 by the Board of Directors of St. Louis Community Credit Union. The Board recognized that many individuals in our community lacked sufficient access to vital financial resources and opportunities.

In addition to providing free financial education, every year the organization awards non-traditional, adult students ages 23 and older with $2,500 scholarships to help them pay for college and associated expenses. Since 2011, twenty scholarships have been awarded to deserving students.

In the summer of 2012, Prosperity Connection opened the Excel Center as a dedicated ‘destination point’ to provide free financial education and life skills classes. Located in an economically stressed community, the Excel Center provides its services to clients of numerous non-profits and the community at large. Seminars and one-on-one coaching sessions take place both day and evening, as well as on the weekend to meet the needs of busy families.

We take a hands-on approach to learning, engaging our program participants and empowering them to improve their quality of life. The Excel Center’s primary areas of outreach include:

  • Consumer financial and life skills education
  • Health and wellness
  • Continuing education
  • Professional development
  • Business services

Through our course offerings, we take a holistic approach to education and empowerment so that families and individuals are equipped with the tools they need to thrive.
