Prosperity Connection Receives $15,000 Grant from PNC Bank for Old North Excel Center
October 3, 2016 Prosperity Connection

Prosperity Connection is thrilled to announce we have received a $15,000 grant award from PNC Bank to expand our services in North St. Louis City! Nearly a year ago, Prosperity Connection opened its third Excel Center in the Old North neighborhood to play an important role in providing financial education and resources to residents, and to house our nonprofit organization’s administrative team. The space includes a meeting area for group classes and private offices which enables our Financial Educators a place to meet with individuals for confidential one-on-one coaching sessions.

With the generous support from PNC and other dedicated funders last year for startup and operating costs, we will reach more than 300 clients through one-on-one coaching sessions and group classes by the end of the year.

The funds from this year’s grant from PNC will enable Prosperity Connection to serve more adults in both group and one-on-one settings, as well as engage with youth through a variety of interactive programming. We will accomplish this by strategically partnering with highly capable, nearby community-based nonprofit agencies that are skilled at service delivery for the particular groups they serve. These partnerships leverage the strengths of each organization and avoid duplication of services available in the community. Prosperity Connection, through its Excel Center, plays a vital role in supporting residents with personal finance knowledge and tools.

We are particularly excited about upcoming partnership opportunities with the newly opened North City Business Development Center, which hosts the Small Business Development Center, Veterans Business Resource Center, Magdalene House, and LinkSTL to provide services and support to residents, directly across the street from the Excel Center.

The redevelopment of Old North St. Louis is well underway with mixed housing options and commercial space available. Nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and City government are working together to spark comprehensive revitalization through the community’s vision of a sustainable and welcoming neighborhood.  Prosperity Connection is proud to be a part of these efforts.
