This week we will all be gathering with family and friends to give thanks for the blessing of the past year. With the current state of the country a lot of people may be thinking, we don’t have anything to be grateful for. My grandma Daisy used to tell me “be grateful for the little things for they hold a greater value”. This advice came from a woman who lived through the Great Depression and all the historical event that has taken place since. I never understood what she truly meant until I was an adult.
As I look back on this past year and think about all the little things I am grateful for: I am grateful for my family; my career; my coworkers; my health; my new purple office;…. I could go on but I think you get what I am trying to say.
So, this holiday season we can try some new things. Try unplugging from the electronics and social media and just live in the moment. Also look for the good instead of pointing out the bad. Last but not least don’t worry about all the big stuff going on around you in this country and other parts of the world, I challenge you to think of the little things you have to be grateful for.
